A Zombie Apocalypse
A Zombie Apocalypse
This is another good story in the zombie genre. Jack Cutter is an
artist who finds himself in the middle of the zombie outbreak, who at
first seems willing to let events overcome him, until he finds a reason
to survive.
Pro: the story has a good pace with plenty of
suspense. The description of the origin of the zombies as well as the
zombies themselves follows the genre with some good twists to it. While
not a full length novel, it is neither a short story, so it takes a few
nights to read.
The standard: tall, good looking, white male to
play the unwitting hero (check). Big trucks with fat tires (check).
Lots of guns available even in unexpected places (check). Survivalist
and ex-military guys built like rocks (check). Beautiful nubile women
(check).
Cons: some contextual and factual problems. For
example, would you really expect a belt to be a good strap to a metal
gate when it is being assaulted by 100 zombies? Is every woman in the
east coast willing to spread her legs simply to get some protection by
the hero? At some points in the story, I expected it to turn on to a
XXX fiesta based on the description of the women (living that is), what
they are wearing, and how they react to the turmoil.
